La Cambusa Wine Shop, also known as “Ruben’s”, for our Expat group, is a wonderful hidden gem in the heart of Stresa! If you ever find yourself along Lago di Maggiore, you must stop in Stresa for either a wine tasting or to see this wine shop.
When my husband was working in Italy one summer 2 years ago, before we were married, he had ventured to the famous “Ruben’s”. What he experienced there, was one of the best wine tastings he ever had. Collin, when we first met, had a minimal pallate for good food and wine. Since then, he has become quite the wine conoursour and Michelin food critique lol!
Once he returned home from his summer abroad, he brought back a case of wines he found and loved from Ruebens (who helped him ship the bottle back to Texas).
Collin and I, married now, returned to Ruben’s with our 2 other couple friends for my first experience. The wine shop had an expansion since Collin was last there, almost doubling in size. An addition to the new portion of the store, is a glass floor covering connected to a what looks like an old well, found during their expansion. It has become a new attraction for the store, and beautiful it is!
