Travel Tuesday, known in the past as the best day for travelers to book an upcoming getaway, is November 28, 2023 this year….following Cyber Monday. Many hotels, airlines, cruises, and other partners of the travel industry will offer countless travel opportunities at a discounted rate in the days leading up to Travel Tuesday.
Typically, customers have found incredible deals on this day, compared to other discount days with 2x the deals than Black Friday and 78% more deals than on Cyber Monday. If you’ve been eyeing the market for a quick or long term vacation in the near future, you want to be ready for this day.
Before you consider any travel deals, you should absolutely sign up for a Travel Rewards Credit Card so that you receive additional points on your travel expenses. Most travel credit cards offer bonus points if you spend a minimum amount in the first few months. These points are FREE TRAVEL opportunities!! Seriously, if you are about to spend money on a debit card or normal credit card that doesn’t offer 5-10x the points on bookings, you are “losing money”…travel math.
How to book your Travel Tuesday deals
Utilize a Travel Rewards Credit Card
Travel Rewards Credit Cards are the simplest way to welcome more travel opportunities into your life. Whether that is in the form of an airline or hotel status boost for holding the card, exclusivity to international airport lounges, hundreds of dollars in free travel credits towards a flight or hotel booking, travel insurance, or double, triple, quadruple, etc the points on any purchase, you are sure to rack up free points that can be used towards another trip, for free, just by using a travel credit card.
Capital One Venture X
The Capital One Venture X card is our current and most favorite reward program. We started with the Chase Sapphire card and promoted ourselves to the Venture X card when we wanted more travel benefits. I’m so happy with the Capital One customer service and travel portal. They are very easy to connect, reach, and communicate with. Their travel portal always shows an accurate scale on ‘when to book’. The scale ranges from ‘book now/best price’ to ‘wait for lower price/too high’. Having a visual representation that reflects the best time to purchase an airline flight is so helpful.
Chase Sapphire Preferred
The Chase Sapphire Preferred card was our first travel rewards credit card and it is a PERFECT starter card. We have booked multiple free trips with our travel rewards points….from a week in Croatia at a 5 star luxury resort, to a number of overnight stays in Switzerland, Italy, and other European hotels. We are constantly using our points to book new travel adventures.
Travel Tuesday Partners
Flights
Hopper: Hopper ‘invented’ Travel Tuesday 7 years ago this November, as they saw a higher purchasing pattern in travel deals the Tuesday after Cyber Monday. This year, Hopper expects to see airline tickets up to 80% off popular international and regional destinations, and 50% off hotels worldwide.
Hopper has already confirmed over 100 travel partners including “airlines such as Aer Lingus, Air New Zealand, China Airlines, Explore Azores Islands, Fiji Airways, French Bee, Porter Airlines, SATA Azores Airlines, Singapore Airlines and others will be running discounts on flights on November 28th” (Hopper).
CheapOAir: CheapOAir is offering multiple Travel Tuesday discounts, ranging from discounts on business/first class tickets to international ticket sale deals. You can find an option for any ticket type with them!
Skyscanner: The Skyscanner platform is one of my favorite ways to browse flight deals based on the month or season you hope to travel. You can easily compare travel destinations and costs and can set alerts for travel deals, instantly. I prefer to use this platform for researching travel options and will book immediately when I find a good deal. A great option if you know WHEN you want to travel by browsing flights ‘anywhere’, or if you know WHERE you want to go, and need to find when the perfect time to go would be.
Hotels
Booking.com: My favorite platform to browse and book hotel deals, and a confirmed partner to this year’s Travel Tuesday deals, is Booking.com, offering multiple hotel deals worldwide.
Chain Hotels: Many international hotel chains like Marriott or Hilton are also offering 20% or more off hotel deals and packages on this day. If you have a loyalty program with any international hotel, this is the perfect time to check out their offerings.
Ferries
Direct Ferries: Direct Ferries is the platform we use to book all our ferry trips. It’s best to book in advance because each ticket costs more if you wait to buy in person, at the ticket stand. If you’re looking to travel to remote islands or do any island hoping next year, this is a great platform to utilize.
Travel Products
Amazon: For deals that occur on Black Friday or Cyber Monday, Amazon has a variety of travel essential products like silicone toiletry sets, outdoor and excursion equipment, luggage products and sets, and ski/hiking gear. See my entire Travel Tuesday List for more deals this year.
